September 30th 2015 Day 1

9F ES
    - Today we continued with our election modules. Today's discussion was about political parties and what importance they have with in the election process.
    - During the second block we wrote a short formative quiz for lessons 1-3. Marks will be up shortly.
    - Marks for the Cabinet project will be in after this weekend. I apologies for the delay.

7F FLA
    - Today we wrote our first Grammar Test. Marks are already on Powerschool and Test have been put in pick up bin. Girls that were at cross country will write them tomorrow.

Film 8
   - Finished up our first unit of introduction to sound and color. Students started the first project which is creating a project that shows the progression of sound and color. It is due at the end of the next class ( Tuesday October 6th 2015)

7H SS
   - Today we started our project for Chapter 1. This project is due on Friday October 10th. They will have 6 classes to work on it.

September 28th 2015 Day 5

Health 7E
    Today we spent our 2 classes working on our I am Unique project. This project is due on October 6th 2015. If students didn't finish this project in class it is then for homework.

7H SS
    Today we reviewed the Anishinabee worksheet that students completed last week. There is a short Formative quiz tomorrow.

7F ES
    Today we started our chapter 1 review. Tomorrow we will be starting the Chapter 1 project tomorrow.

September 25th 2015 Day 4

7F FLA
  -  Today I gave the students time to finish off the chapter 3/4 questions and work on our chapter 5 vocabulary. We will continue reading chapter 5 on Tuesday.

7F ES
  -  As a review for students and a treat for their great work the past few weeks, we watched an episode of Canada "Une Histoire Populaire".  The episode that we watched told other legends of the way that the first nations groups believed that they came to be on the land we now call Canada.
  - During our second period we completed 3 little formative quizzes ( online) based on the information we have learnt from our text and discussions on the First Nations.
   - They were also supposed to be sent home with a field trip form.....but I forgot... They will get them on Monday! Sorry!

FSL 7
  -  Students continued to work on their create a school project. The project will be due on October 5th 2015 and the presentations will start on October 9th 2015

7H
  - Today we reviewed the Haudenosaunee worksheet the students did in class yesterday. The rest of the class was spent finishing up the worksheet on the Anishinabe. We will review this on Monday and there will be a formative quiz on Tuesday September 29th 2015.

September 24th 2015 Day 3

9F ES
   - Today we put chapter one on hold to discuses the 2015 Federal Election. We went over the origins of democracy, and looked at the advantages and disadvantages of a democratic system.  We will be continuing this side unit ( that fits perfectly into our chapter 1 curriculum) for the next week.

7H SS
   - In our double today, students worked on gathering information about the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabee First Nations. We will finish this up together tomorrow during class.

FSL 8
   - Today we started the create your own animal project. Due date is to be determined after next class.

7F FLA
    - Today we have our first official French Reading period in the Library.

September 22nd 2015 Day 1

9F ES
    - Today we discussed the Senate and the Judicial System. We were interrupted by and evacuation drill which the 9Fs followed protocol perfectly great job!

7F FLA
  - Today was Grammar Day!  We worked on our last activity for the present tense verbs and proceeded to correct our previous pages. These will be inserted to powerschool as a formative mark. Students will have a quiz on Wednesday September 30th ( Next Grammar Day) on the verbs we worked on.

Film 8
   - Today we finished the Wizard of Oz, as our first film in our unit of introduction to color. Next class we start watching the first ever animated film to add color.... Snow White.

7H SS
  - Today in Social we finished watching a few clips from Canada a Popular history, about the origins of the Aboriginal peoples. We then started to discuss the Mi'kmaqs of the East coast we will continue that tomorrow morning.

September 21st 2015 Day 6

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! 

7H SS
    -Today we discussed the procedures for our evacuation drill sometime this week. Students were told where to meet outside and advised to take it seriously even if it is only a drill.
    -We then proceeded to watch a short 15 minute clip on  the origins of aboriginal societies. Students listened to the legends of how each group of Aboriginals believed they can to live on the land we now call Canada.  Tomorrow we will be starting to look deeper into our first group of First Nations, The Mi'kmaq of the East Coast.

7F ES
   - This morning we learnt a few more vocabulary words, and discussed why Elders are so important in the First nation culture.
7F FLA
   -Today we read chapter 2 and answered questions for both Chapter 1 and 2 of our novel study. Chapter 2 vocab had been put on Classroom. Students should be adding those words to their mini dictionaries.

FSL 8
    - Today we had a pop quiz on our introductory unit. We then continued on our animal unit. Today we labled the parts of the animals.
 
9F ES
   - Today we discussed the Legislative power and the Chamber of Commons, we also looked at the difference between a majority government and a minority government.  Tomorrow we will look at the Senate.
 
7F ES
   - This afternoon we spent sometime discussing the First Nations Language groups and if we new anyone that was apart of any of the groups we discussed. We then started looking at the Mi'kmaqs of the eat coast.

September 17th 2015 Day 5 -- 39th Annual Conroy Classic!

7E Health
    - Today we discussed what makes each person unique. We also started our first assignments which is "This is why I am Unique" Collage or poem assignment. Students and 1 period today and will have 2 more classes next day 5 ( September 28th) I will be taking them in at the end of the second class that day.

7H SS
     - Today I took this period to prepare my homeroom students for the Conroy Classic. Congratulations to all my homeroom for doing a wonderful job at the Run!! I am very proud of you!
     - Geography Quizzes have been put on Classroom. There are 2 tests with no names on them. If you see you do not have a mark one of the test must be yours please come see me Monday morning to claim your test. The rest of the class your test are in your personal folders.

7F ES
     - Today we moved the desks away.. we sat in a circle around our make believe camp fire (our Toonies for Terry tin!) like the First Nations would do when the elders were teaching the younger generation. Students assumed the role of the First Nations children as they listened to their Elder ( me ) tell them the legends of how the earth was created. We learnt the Mi'kmaq legend, as well as the Legend from the Haudenosaunees. Returning to our time the students were then asked to complete a few questions about both legends.
    - Don't forget FLA Chapter 1 Vocab is due Monday, and Grammar booklets due Tuesday.

September 16th 2015 Day 4

7F FLA
     - Today  we read the first chapter and we worked on Chapter 1 vocabulary from our novel study À fleur de peau. Student should finished the Vocabulary words that we didn't have time to finish for September 21st.

7F ES-
     - Today we disscussed what values meant. We looked at what values the 3 First Nations groups we are studying share. We also discussed in our second block together what traditions we have in our own families. Tomorrow we will be looking into a few legends the First Nations would tell on how the earth was created.

7H SS
    - Today we wrote the Canadian geography quiz, Marks will be up on power school soon.

September 15th 2015 Day 3

9F ES-
   - Students had today's two periods to finish their first project. It is to be completed at home of they did not finish. It is due tonight no later then 11:59pm on Classroom.

7H SS-
  - Today we worked on our Chapter 1 Vocabulary and introduction questions. Tomorrow we have or final Canada quiz. Students should be studying the first Formative Quiz we corrected yesterday.

7F FLA-
   - Today was our first reading period. Students picked out a book yesterday in French when we visited the library. Today they spent their block reading silently in French. We will normally be in the library for this period, unfortunately today it was being used.

September 11th 2015 Day 1

9F ES (double):
  - Today we did a quick review on the executive power.
  - Students were then given their first Mini project that will be counting as a quiz. They had both blocks today to work on it. They will also be given Monday's Class and both classes on Tuesday to complete the project. This project will be due on Google Classroom on Tuesday Evening no later then  11:59 pm. There is no excuse for students to not have this project completed on time.

7F FLA (double):
    - It's Grammar Day!! First block we took notes on the endings for the third group of verbs. We also discussed the Exceptions to the Rules. Students were then asked to complete 2 and a half pages in their grammar booklets. These will be due on the following Grammar Day, September 22nd 2015.
  - Most students were able to finish the grammar pages during the 2 classes. Those that finished continued work on their Novel Study Title Page that we started yesterday.

7H SS:
  - Today we wrote the Canadian geography quiz. This quiz is counting as a second formative mark. It will be in Power School this weekend but will not be counting towards the students final grade. We will continue working on Canadian geography and there will be a second quiz next week, Date TBA.

September 10th 2015 Day 6

7H SS
   - Today I verified to see what students had completed the Mapping activity. Powerschool will show a Check Mark if it was complete and a missing if it was incomplete. This assignment was a formative assessment.
   - We worked together for a little while on a "Lets research Canada" Worksheet to help better prepare the students for their short Canada Quiz tomorrow afternoon.

7F ES
   - This morning students were given 20 minutes to study for their short quiz. We then proceeded to completed the quiz in the time that was left.

7F FLA
  - Today I introduced the class to their first Novel Study of the year. We will be reading A Fleur de Peau. These books will stay in the classroom unless there is an assignment that needs to be completed for homework. We were interrupted for pictures so students will continue tomorrow (after grammar) their Title pages. If we do not have time tomorrow we will continue Monday.

9F ES(double):
    - Today while continuing Unit 1 "Canadian Government" we discussed in more detail the executive power. We talked about who is included and what exactly a cabinet minister does. We will be continuing this tomorrow morning as well as starting our first assignment of the year.

7F ES:
   - During this block we corrected our quiz as a class. Well done all of you!! :D
   - With the little time that was left we took a quick look at our Unit 1 booklets and discussed a few things that we will be learning in this Unit. We will continue on Monday (next Social Studies Class)

Wednesday September 9th 2015 Day 5

7H- SS
     - Today the students had grade assemblies by gender. The boys missed half the period. Students were given the class to work on their Maps. I have changed the date of their little quiz to Friday in order to complete the mapping Canada activity and have time to review it together. These maps are to be completed at home if they have not yet finished them. Some students came in at lunch to finish them off.

7F- ES
  - Today students finished working on their Maps of Canada. These are now for homework for tomorrow. We will be reviewing them quickly tomorrow before we write a short quiz on Canadian geography. Tomorrow we will also be starting our first Unit. We will be talking about The First Nations of Canada before the Europeans set off on what will become Canadian soil.

Tuesday September 8th 2015 Day 4

7F-FLA
 - Today we worked on a bit more grammar that was a continuation from Friday. Students were asked to complete page two in their grammar booklets for Friday. They were given time in class, and they will have extra time this week after other work is completed.
   - As a class we decided that every Day 1 ( we have a double of FLA) will be Grammar Day. Our Second Grammar Day will be Friday September 11th 2015

7F-ES ( Morning)
  - This mornings class we continued work on our Textbook Scavenger hunt, that we started last week. Students are now well equipped to search through their textbooks.

7F- ES (Afternoon)
   - During our second block together we review Canadian geography, we named the provinces and their capitals. Students were then asked to complete a blank map by indicating the provinces and capitals, as well as the important rivers and lakes that will be discussed this year. Students will have more time tomorrow to complete this assignment. There will be a short quiz on Canadian geography on Thursday September 10th 2015. 

7H-SS

September 4th 2015 Day 3

9F- Great  Discussions and great work today! Keep that up all year and we will have a very good year! If you haven`t finished the google classroom assignment please finish that this weekend!

7H-  Today we looked at our course outline and started to get to know our textbook by working on a text book scavenger hunt. Don`t forget your forms for Tuesday if you want a surprise on Wednesday!

7F(FLA) - Today we took some notes on Verbs! Please join our google Classroom for both FLA and ÉTUDES SOCIALES. You will be getting an email about this sometime this weekend.

First Day of School! Welcome and Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

7H is my homeroom this year! It was great to meet all of you today!

Things to remember:
- Forms Forms and more Forms!!! Please have these signed and brought back as early as possible!
- Remember if you are having trouble with your lock come and see me and I will help you!
- Tomorrow will be a full day of classes and it will be Day 2.
