September 28th 2017 Day 5

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8 )
- Today we continued working on our second assignment. Students were asked to profile one of the Federal Cabinet Ministers. This assignment is due tomorrow. 

PE 8EF ( Block 2 )
- As it was very nice out today we continued out outdoor soccer unit.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4 )
- Today students continued to work on their First Nations Film Project. This assignment is due on October 5th 2017.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 5 )
-  Today students continued to work on their First Nations Film Project. This assignment is due on October 6th 2017.

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today students worked on their Amazing Race assignment. This project is due on Monday October 2nd. We will present them the following week on October 10th.

September 26th 2017 Day 3

Social Studies 7G  ( Block 1 & 4 )
- Today we continued working on our projects.

PE 8EF ( Block 2)
- Today we finally got outside to play some soccer!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3)
- Today we continued working on our projects.

DIY 7 ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we attempted to make Wax Crayon Candles. It worked for the most part but then when we accidentally blew the breaker in my classroom and we were delayed in melting our wax till we found the right breaker box!  Students will pick up their unfinished candles tomorrow and can finish them at home. ( I am not here Friday or we would continue it!  )  

*** Important for Friday!! Please bring an Old T-Shirt that you are allowed to cut up!!! :D

September 25th 2017 Day 2

Our School will be participating in Orange Shirt Day on September 29th 2017
Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2 )
- Today we shortly discusses Orange Shirt Day, that will take place on Friday September 29th 2017. We then reviewed the explanation of our first Project. Students got into groups and started working. This project is due on Thursday October 5th 2017.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5 )
- Today we discussed Orange Shirt Day, that will take place on Friday September 29th 2017. We then continued in our workbook discussing what the Executive power of the federal government is made up of. Students then proceeded to complete their first activity on classroom. Wednesday when I am Away on a field trip they will be working on Activity 2 on classroom that is a short project on a current cabinet minister and their portfolio. This will be due on Friday September 29th 2017.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we discussed Orange Shirt Day, that will take place on Friday September 29th 2017. We then talked about the Roles of Women in each of the three First Nations group. We then started looking at the first project of the year! Students were given one period today to get started. This project is due on Friday October 6th 2017.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8) 
- Students then continued working on their Video Project. This project is due on October 2nd 2017.

September 22nd 2017 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3 )
- Today we started working on our first group projects. Students are working to create a 2 minute film explaining the way of life of one of the three first nations groups we studied. This project is due on October 2 2017. 

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8) 
- Today we discussed the Social and Governmental Structures of the 3 Principal First Nations groups, The Mi'kmaq, The Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe. Our Second block we finished the Weekly News that we started on Wednesday.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
- Today in block 4 we played the students favorite game from grade 7 Castle pool in the north gym. When we got back into the South gym for our second block we combined with the guys to play some Dodgeball.

Tourism 8  ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we discussed the Whys and Why nots of Traveling.  Students were given their first big assignment. They were asked to create a Leg of THE AMAZING RACE!  This assignment is Due at the beginning of class on Monday October 2nd.

September 21 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1 )
- Today our PE class was interrupted by a grade assembly. We will be in the fitness room and North gym tomorrow.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5 )
- Today in Social we continued working on the Monde en Marche that the students started yesterday. During our second block we started our first Unit. We started discussing the levels of government and the 3 powers.  We will be continuing this next week.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4 ) 
- Today we discussed the Role that Women played in each of the 3 first nations societies. We also discussed how these groups made decisions based off of the time of year because of their need for food to survive. We will be starting our Seeing is Believing Film project tomorrow.

September 19th 2017 Day 4

PE 8EF ( Block 1) 
- This morning we continued with our Soccer unit. Unfortunately we had to stay inside because of the rain. :( Tomorrow we will be in the Fitness room for our Weekly Fitness Day!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3 & 4)
- Today we discussed the structures of the aboriginal societies that we are learning about this year. The Mi'kmaq, the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe. We then took sometime in the second block to listen to these groups' creation stories and discuss a little bit about the similarities and the differences.

***PACK TONIGHT FOR BOTH RAIN AND LIGHT RAIN FOR TOMORROWS FIELD TRIP *** Not going on Trip : SCHOOL BOOKS ETC.  Going in trip:  in a backpack:
Ø  mitts or gloves (fall mornings can be cool)
Ø  hat or toque
Ø  spring/fall coat
Ø  hoodie
Ø  lunch
Ø  water bottle
Ø  hand sanitizer
Students should also wear rubber boots, or old shoes (sometimes there is a bit of mud when we put the canoes in the water).

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 5 )
- Today in Social and one period of Science , we were one of the lucky grade 9 classes to get to experience the Holomodor Mobile Classroom. Our Students and I got a chance to learn about the Ukrainian Genocide that hit in 1932-1933. It was a deep and sad presentation with lots of meaningful information. I was very impressed and proud of  the way the 9F class conducted themselves with respect during the activities and the thoughtful questions they asked.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we finished up our Vocabulary assignment and then continued on to listen to the creation stories of the 3 main First Nation groups that we are studying this year. The Mi'kmaq, the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe.

** If students were not finished the Vocabulary it is to be completed at home**

September 18th 2017 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4 )
- Today in our first block we listened to the creation stories of each of the 3 First Nation groups we will be studying this year. The Mi`kmaq, the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe.  In our second block we looked how these three societies were structured. Students completed an activity on Classroom labeling Anishinaabe clans.

** Don't Forget to Sign up to the Field Trip Next Week**

PE 8EF ( Block 2) 
- Well done to all my PE Girls on the Conroy Classic! Everyone completed in under 19 minutes and and 6 completed the run in less than 12 minutes!
-Today we started our Soccer unit. We will be playing Soccer either inside or outside for the next few weeks.

** Please bring warm clothing for tomorrows block 1 Class**

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3 )
- Today we finished up our first Vocabulary activity. Tomorrow we will be starting to look at the structure of the first nations groups. We will also listen to each of the First Nation groups Creation Story.

DIY 7 ( Block 6 & 7) 
- Today we changed up the schedule just a bit. Instead of doing the Wax Crayon candles, we did our mug decorating DIY. Students then completed their first blog post, on their school based blog.

Social Studies 7 Field Trip

Dear parents:

We are trying to finalize plans for the grade 7 social studies trips that go during the next two weeks.

If it is possible for you child to attend, please immediately go to the parent portal and complete the field trip form.  This year, ALL FORMS are completed on line.

If we do not have enough registrations, the field trip will be cancelled.

7D= September 20th
7B= September 21st
7G= September 27th 

Any students not attending the field trip will still be expected to attend school on the day of the trip and go to regular classes with another grade 7 class.

September 14th 2017 Day 2

Conroy Classic Day!!

Social Studies 7G (Block 1 & 2)
- Today we got set up with google classroom. We then started our first activity of Unit 1. This activity is all about important vocabulary. If students were not completed in the double block they are asked to complete it for homework for Monday.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5)
- Today Students continued to work on their introduction projects. These projects are to be completed over the weekend and handed in next class.

- These classes were used to Run the Conroy Classic as a whole school. Reminder to complete Vocab words Culture up to and including Primary source image, for Tuesday next week.  We will continue the rest of the words in class.

September 13th 2017 Day 1

Tomorrow is the Conroy Classic!!!!! Dress According to the Weather for your run!!!


Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3)
- Today we wrote the short Formative Pop Quiz on the Map of Canada. We then started our first objective 7.1.3 - Compare  and contrast diverse social and economical structures within the societies of the Aboriginal, French and British peoples in pre-Confederation Canada. We started by working on a important vocabulary worksheet using our textbooks as well as the internet!

Homework: Students were asked to complete Vocab words Culture all the way to Source Primaire .

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8)

- As it was raining we played a good game of Castle pool for the first period in the North Gym. During the second period, we played a game of Chaos and then a game of continuous kickball with the boys class.

Tourism 8
- Today we discussed reasons why people travel. We talked about reasons such as relaxing, adventure, education and business. Students were then given the opportunity to pretend that they had an unlimited budget but only 30 days to travel any where they would want. Some students went to the moon and then rented all of Europe for the month. Others were a bit more practical and planned 4 destinations with a specific plan for every day. Some students even went as far as to calculate how much their month vacation would cost in real life!

September 12th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1)
-Today we were asked to go down for Picture day with our Students during this period. When we came back to the gym we shot around the basketballs as we didn't have much time left.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5 )
- Students started work on their Introduction Project that was explained yesterday in Block 8. This assignment is due on Tuesday September 19th 2018.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4)
- Students wrote a short Map of Canada Pop Quiz that was mentioned here on the blog last night. This was a formative quiz.

DIY 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
- Today we looked at different examples DIY Blogs. Students had time to research on their own and add links to the blogs they thought were neat to our google classroom page! Students were then given step by step instructions on how to set up their own school ran Blog, using their student gmail account. Next class we start our first DIY project!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8)
- Today students completed a Textbook Scavenger Hunt that helped them get to know their textbook better. Tomorrow there will be a ``POP`` Quiz on the Map of Canada. We will be starting our first unit tomorrow in Block 3.

September 11th 2017 Day 5

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8)
- Today we discussed what controversial issues are in the world of politics. For example the idea of how heightened security at airports protect citizens but can also be seen as a violation of our individual rights and freedoms.  In block 8 we looked at our Introduction project. Students will be starting these tomorrow and they will be due on Tuesday September 19th.

PE 8EF ( Block 2)
- Today we ran one lap of the school grounds in preparation for the Conroy Classic this Thursday! We then went into the fitness room and re familiarized ourselves with the equipment.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4)
- Today we finished off the Map of Canada introduction activity and completed a Textbook Scavenger hunt. Tomorrow we will be having a POP Quiz. The quiz is titles ``Map of Canada``. Who can guess what the quiz will be about!!! :D

Social Studies 7B ( Block 5)
- Today we completed a Textbook Scavenger Hunt. Students got a chance to look thru their textbooks and learn and use the different sections i.e the glossary, the index etc.

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we did a mini research assignment . The class was divided into groups and were asked to create a short presentation about one of the 5 industries that involve Tourism. These 5 industries were: accommodations, recreation and entertainment, transportation, food and beverage and travel services.  We will be looking at the reasons why people like to travel next class.

September 8th 2017 Day 4

8EF PE (Block 1)
- Today we started preparing for the Conroy Classic that is on the 14th of September! Students ran 22 full blocks around the school and then we proceeded to stretch it out as it was the first big run of the year!

7D Etudes Sociales ( Block 3/4)
- Today we had a double and we continued on our Map of Canada introduction activity. We said Goodbye to Mme Gabert until October and wished her good luck in her university classes.

9F Etudes Sociales
- Today we continued on our introduction booklet. Today's topic was quality of life and what factors have an influence in creating a positive quality of life. We said Goodbye to Mme Gabert until October and wished her good luck in her university classes.

7B Social Studies
-- Today we had a double and we continued on our Map of Canada introduction activity. We said Goodbye to Mme Gabert until October and wished her good luck in her university classes.

September 7th 2017 Day 3

7G Social Studies ( Block 1 & Block 4)
- Today Miss Gabert (student teacher) started an introduction to Canada activity. The students were asked to color cut and glue a map of Canada in order to be able to label it properly with the provinces, capital cities, surrounding bodies of water and more.

8EF PE ( Block 2)
- This was our first class together, today we assigned lockers and reviewed the course outline for PE 8. Students are reminded to make sure they have clothing for tomorrow's block 1 PE class.

7D Etudes Sociales ( Block 3)

DIY 7 ( Block 6/7)
- Today we went over the course outline for the DIY class. Studetns were excited to learn that they will be getting the chance to creat things such as bath bombs, dog toys and wax crayon candles to mention just a few! We ended off the class by starting to create DIY ( non electronic) Word Cloud of their names and things they love! I am excited to see these up on my bulletin board!

This year I will be teaching Social Studies to Grade 7B, 7D, 7G and 9F as well as Physical Education to 8EF girls . I will also be teaching a variety of Options Starting with Tourism 8 and DIY 7.
