October 31st 2017 Day 1


Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3 )
- Today in our first block, we reviewed the vocabulary for our Chapter. Students filled in a sheet with all the important words so that they will recognize them when we discuss them later. We then began our lesson about mercantilism and talked about how it was used by the British. In our second class, we completed a worksheet talking about the perspectives that certain people and groups have of mercantilism.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8) 
-In our first class, we began our introduction lesson to the chapter. We discussed the importance of learning about history as well as the key terms that we will be discussing this chapter. They started their vocabulary sheet and tried to find definitions in their textbook. In our second class, we reviewed the definitions and then discovered a bit on the subject of mercantilism.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
- Today we ran our 12 minute run!

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
- Today we continued to work on the final project. Students have one more period before presentation day on November 10th!

October 30th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1 )
- Today we played a mini volleyball tournament with the boys class. Tomorrow is it advise to bring a water bottle and any braces needed. There is a possibility that we will be doing the 12 minute run.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5 )
- Today we watched a video on the LSJPA. This video showed students what will happen if they are caught doing some illegal. Students are to use this video to help them with their upcoming project that we are starting on Thursday. In our second block together we finished the video and discussed the what it means to be part of a jury.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4 )
- Today, we had an introduction lesson to Chapter 3 of Social Studies 7. We went through some important terms and definitions, talked about what we would be learning this chapter and discussed a little bit about why it is important to learn about History!

DIY 7 (Block 6 & 7 )
- Today students worked on their Student Choice DIYs. Next class will be the last Student Choice as our last class/showcase class is coming up quick!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8 ) 
- Today, we had an introduction lesson to Chapter 3 of Social Studies 7. We went through some important terms and definitions, talked about what we would be learning this chapter and discussed a little bit about why it is important to learn about History!

October 24th 2017 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2 )
- Students had one period to finish off their New France Brochures, when they were finished they were asked to complete the Google Form - Formative Assessment.
The then had another period to continue working on the Study Guide for their test on Friday.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5 )
- Today we discussed the what would happen to an adolescent if he or she was arrested by the police. We looked at the difference between Extrajudicial Measures and Sanctions. Students were then given the opportunity to analyse specific cases of adolescent crimes.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7 )
-Students had one period to finish off their New France Brochures, when they were finished they were asked to complete the Google Form - Formative Assessment.
The then had another period to continue working on the Study Guide for their test on Thursday.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8) 
-Students handed in their New France Brochures. They then completed a Google Form - Formative Assessment. When completed they continued working on the Study Guide for their test on Thursday.

October 18th 2017 Day 5

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8 )
- Today students wrote their 9.1.4 quiz. We used the two blocks to complete the quiz. Students that were finished early were asked to read ahead to chapter 2.

PE 8EF ( Block 2 )
- Today was our scheduled class in the fitness room. Tomorrow we will continue with our volleyball unit.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4 )
- Today we finished off chapter 2 by talking about the role of the church in New France, les Filles du Roi, and the economy in New France. Student then started working on their final project for Chapter 2 a brochure trying to convince citizens of France to Move to New France. This assignment is due on Tuesday October 24th 2017.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 5) 
- Today we continued working on our Chapter 2 project. This assignment is due on Tuesday October 24th 2017.

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
- Today students continued working on their Final $3000 Trip project. This assignments is due on November 10th 2017. This will be our presentation day. Students are expected to have everything they need to present: Poster Board etc.

October 17th 2017 Day 4

PE 8EF ( Block 1) 
- Today we continued our volleyball unit. We practices our passing, setting and serving. Next class in the Gym we will work on some hitting. Tomorrow we are in the Fitness Room.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3 & 4 )
- Today we continued working on Activity 5 on Classroom. When we were completed we started discussing the role of the chruch in New France, who le Fille du Roi are as well as how the economy was managed in New France.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 5 )
- Today students used this class to study for their Quiz on Objective 9.1.4 tomorrow.  We went over a few concepts to ensure comprehension as a class.

October 16th 2017 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4 )
- Today we discussed the Coureur de Bois and the Government of New France. Students were assigned a worksheet on classroom. This should be completed for homework if they did not finish in the time given.

PE 8EF ( Block 2 )
- Today we worked on our Underhand and Overhand serves for Volleyball.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3 )
- Today we discussed the Coureur de Bois and the Government of New France. Students were assigned a worksheet on classroom. We will continue working on this activity tomorrow in block 3.

DIY 7 ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today was our final teacher directed DIY. Today we spent time creating homemade simple Halloween Decorations, because who really wants to spend 30+ dollars on decorations you use only one day of the year!!!.

Our next class will be Students first Student Choice DIY. Please remember to bring in your own supplies!!!!

October 11th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1)
- Today we started our volleyball unit.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5 )
- Today we discussed what a Lobbyist is and what their role is in the government.  Our second block was used as a `Catch Up` period. Those that didn't need to finish any assignments were able to get a head start on their Formative Evaluation Study Guide for the up coming Quiz on October 18th 2017.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4 )
- Today we discussed the Municipal Election and students were given time to researcher the candidates. This is in preparation for our STUDENT VOTE on Friday.

DIY 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
- Students were making Sugar Scrubs today! They also took the time to start planning their personal DIYs that they will be doing in the next couple classes.


Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8)
- Today we discussed the Municipal Election and students were given time to researcher the candidates. This is in preparation for our STUDENT VOTE on Friday.

October 10th 2017 Day 5

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8 )
- Today we discussed how the Media influences the public and why it is important to politicians. We also discussed how the media can be biased so you need to be careful about what you take from it. Students were asked to complete activity 4 & 5 on classroom.

PE 8EF ( Block 2) 
- Today was our scheduled day in the fitness room.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4)
- Today we finished up activity 4 on classroom and watched a video as an introduction to Jacques Cartier.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 5 )
- Today we finished up activity 4 on classroom.

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7 ) 
- Students presented their Amazing Race projects. We then discussed what kind of jobs there are in the tourism industry as well as jobs that will pay you to travel.

October 4th 2017 FLD DAY!!!!!

Flexible Learning Day was an absolute blast!!!

Here are the sessions that I ran today!

DIY Locker Magnets: 

Students were able to make their own locker magnets! Students printed off pictures cut them to size and glued them onto the magnets. They then put a flat marble on and hot glued the two pieces together.

It was so much fun and the kids loved it!


What is the world is up with this world!: Current Events:

In this session we spent time discussing the events of the past weekend. It was great to hear all different perspective on the current state of our world.  Students were very engaged and  very respectful to all opinions and as a whole to the whole discussion.

It was a great class.

DEAR - Free reading: 

My last session of the day was DEAR: Students came in open their books and read. It was a great relaxing reading period.



Overall this FLD DAY was FANTASTIC. The kids really seemed to be loving the day!

October 3rd 2017 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2 )
- Today students continued work on their Projects. These two blocks were the final two classes to work. This assignment is due on Thursday October 5th 2017. 

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5)
- Today we discussed the Federal Election Process. Because this can relate to our current municipal election, we took the time to look up the candidates and start to make our individual decisions on who to vote for during the Student Vote on October 13th.
During our Second block we continued talking about the Senate. Students were then asked to complete Activity 3 on Google Classroom.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today students continued work on their Projects. These two blocks were the final two classes to work. This assignment is due on Friday October 6th 2017. 

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8 )
- Today we  viewed the last two presentations and continued working on our important vocabulary activity on classroom.

October 2nd 2017 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3)
- Today we were without internet for our first block so we decided to start the second part of our unit. We discussed what European imperialism was. The internet started working again so in our second class we were able to watch the video projects.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8 )
- Students continued to work on their video projects.  These are due on Friday October 6th 2017. 

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5 )
- Today we played Castle pool in the first period and in the second we played 4 corner soccer.

Tourism 8 ( Block 6 & 7 )
- Today we discussed where tourism is going in the future. Next Class we will be presenting our Amazing Race project.s
