Today we were missing almost the entire class. We reviewed for the Chapter 7 test coming up on Tuesday May 22nd.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we reviewed the questions from pages 320-323. Students were then asked to complete the 4 questions from pages 324-325. These need to be done for homework, as we will be reviewing them tomorrow.

May 14th 2018 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2 )
- Today we review questions from pages 316-319 in our workbook. Students were then asked to complete the 11 questions for pages 320-323. These questions are for homework for Thursday.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5 )
- Today we worked on a short assignment about Ethics and industries. We then started reviewing for our Chapter 7 test, next Tuesday May 22 2018
Marketing projects are due Thursday.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7) 
- Today we review questions from pages 316-319 in our workbook. Students were then asked to complete the 11 questions for pages 320-323. These questions are for homework for Wednesday.

April 18th 2018 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4)
Today we continued in chapter 8. We discussed who the Métis were and what they did once Lord Selkirk  bought their land and started settling it with Highland Scots.

PE 8EF ( Block 2)
Today we stared an organized Badminton Tournament with the Boys class, This will continue until the end of April and then we will begin our Track Unit.

Études Sociales 7D (Block 3)
Today we discussed who the Métis were, what their way of life was and where they lived.

FLC 7 ( Block 6 & 7 )
Today was our last class, students presented their Skits and their culture projects. We then celebrated with some french food brought and (some) made by the students! Good Luck in your next option class!

April 17th 2018 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2)

Today we spent both classes studying for tomorrow's Chapter 7 Test. Students were given the answers to the Study Sheet they were working on.

Today we spent both classes studying for tomorrow's Chapter 7 Test. Students were given the answers to the Study Sheet they were working on.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
Today we played some Volleyball  and basketball in the first period and then continued with our Badminton unit during our second block.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
This was our last class for Q3. We looked at our profits from the Mock craft sale and the real craft sale from last week. Then enjoyed some funny videos to finish off the quarter!

April 10th 2018 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4)
Today students have both block to finish their review booklet. This is due on Thursday. Thursday students will receive a study guide that will help them study for the up coming test on Tuesday April 17th 2018.

PE 8EF ( Block 2)
Today we continued with our Badminton Unit. We will keep playing games tomorrow.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3)
Today we worked on questions 26-30 of the review booklet. Tomorrow we will have 2 blocks to complete this booklet. Students will then receive a study guide that will help them study for the up coming test on Tuesday April 17th 2018.

FLC 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we worked on both projects. We have one more class on Friday to perfect these projects and we will be presenting both of them on Wednesday April 18th 2018, our last class together.

Today students worked again on their chapter 7 review booklet. They worked so well in partners during the first block that I decided to let them continue with this during there second block. Students are asked to complete questions 1-20 for homework. Most students should be around questions 15 presently.

Today we played castle pool in our first block and started playing badminton games in the second period.

Today was the last in class session to make their projects. Next Thursday will be our Mock Craft sale in class. Students who have opted out of the Real Craft Sale will be evaluated this day. ( no marks are deducted for not participating in the real craft sale- this was an optional event to have students earn back what they spent on the course)

Today we worked on both our skit project and the culture project. Both of these are due on April 18th.

Students were given a chapter 7 review booklet. They were asked to complete questions 1-5 for homework if they had not finished in class. Most students were able to get this done in class.

Today we worked on analyzing PAT sources in groups of 2. Students did this for both block, each block was with a different partner and a different set of questions.

Today we were in the Fitness room. Tomorrow we continue with the games in the North Gym.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4)
Today in block 3 we wrote the chapter 6 test. Everyone finished before the second class, so we then started looking at the beginning of chapter 7. We will continue this tomorrow.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 5)
Today we wrote the Chapter 6 test. Monday we will begin chapter 7.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today students continued to work on their craft show products. Everything is looking great!

Today we continued with our PAT prep unit. We analysed the sources together as a large groups. Tomorrow students will spend time analyzing the sources and answering questions in pre-made groups.

Today we played our first 2 student made games. They were great! Tomorrow we play 2 more!

Today was the last period to work on their projects. These are due Friday. Tomorrow they will be given a study guide and time to study for the Chapter 6 test on Friday!

FLC 7 (Block 6 & 7)
Today was Duolingo and Skits. Students have shared with me their Skits and now our work begins to help properly pronounce the skits.

March 12th 2018 Day 2

Social Studies 7G (Block 1 & 2)
Today students were given 2 last periods to work on their Comic Strip project. This assignment is due NO later than Friday March 16th 2018.

Students were given 2 weeks to work on this project. Unfortunately I cannot give students anymore time in class to finish this project. They are welcome to join me at lunch at 12:30 to work on in it my classroom.

Tomorrow we will have 2 review periods and on Thursday we will be writing the Chapter 6 Test.


Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5)
Today we started our PAT Practice unit. This unit will take the next 2 weeks before spring break and will then continue after we are finish the next unit in May.

Today we started with a practice test, were students got to see how well they would have done if the test was today and only 15 questions long.

During our second period together we then started look at a different set of questions and sources and started analyzing them together on the board. Students were given strategies on how to read the sources and pick out the important information. We will continue with step 2 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Today we finished off Chapter 5 with our test. When students were finished they used the time they had left to work on their magazine project. Reminder that the project is due on Monday March 12th 2018.

February 28th 2018 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3)
Today we discussed the rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada and how no matter how small of event they may have seemed, they were able to incite change in the way the government was organized. During our second period we started work on our chapter 6 project... a comic strip explaining the key concepts of chapter 6! Students will receive 7 in class periods to work on this assignment. It is due on March 12th 2018.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8)
Today we finished discussing just how difficult the journey was for immigrants during the Great Migration and just how hard it was to actually start a life here in Canada. We then discussed the rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada and how no matter how small of event they may have seemed, they were able to incite change in the way the government was organized. Tomorrow we will begin our Chapter 6 project!

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
Today we were curling! This was our final curling class of the year. Marks will be up over the next week or so.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today, those who had not finished their notebooks got a chance to finish them up. Everyone else took the like to create some cute corner bookmarks! Starting NEXT DIY Class Students need to be bringing in their supplies to start working on creating their own products. Business plans are going home today.

Today we discussed the causes and the results of the Rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada. We discussed how the Durham report changed Canada from being two different colonies to one United Canada. Tomorrow we will start working on our Chapter 6 Project.

FLC ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we learnt some colors! We then took the time to practice recognizing the french word for specific colors. Students then got started on their culture projects.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8)
Today we talked about the Great Migration and how difficult the conditions were on the ``Coffin Ships``. We also talked about how life in Canada was not easy. Tomorrow we will talk about how the appearance of these new immigrants caused a divide in the society.

Students continued to work on their Immigration Magazine Project. The due date for this project has been changed to Tuesday March 6th 2018 by the end of the day! We will start our review for the Chapter 5 Test that day and we will be writing the Chapter 5 Test on March 8th 2018.

February 22nd 2018 Day 3

Social Studies 7G (Block 1 & 4) 
Today students continued to work on the worksheet that was handed out yesterday. They all handed them back in to me at the end of our 2 blocks wven if they were not finished. I will be looking them over, over the weekend and handing them back on Monday to be finished, if they were not done.

PE 8EF (Block 2)
Today we got 3 games of our 5 on 5 basketball tournament in. Tomorrow there will be a sub and the students will be going to the North Gym to play Castle Pool.

Etudes Sociales 7D (Block 3)
Today students started a worksheet. They will continue to work on this tomorrow with my substitute. They will be asked to hand them in to the sub at the end of the double even if they are not finished. I will then look them over and hand them back to be completed in the next class together.

FLC (Block 6 & 7)
Today we for 40 minute on Duolingo. Students then spent the second 40 minutes, starting to create their skits! Just one period into these skits and already I am hearing lots of great ideas! Next day 3 we will start working together to write the skits down in FRENCH, and learn the proper way to say each word!  Next class (Day 6) we will continue working on our Culture project.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2)
- Today we started talking about the War of 1812: How it started, ended in a stalemate and what actually came out of it. We then discussed the importance of Tecumseh and his very large First Nations Army. We also discussed how this War launched an era of British Identity, not a Canadian Identity. We got a bit sidetrack and discussed how we don't really have one set Canadian identity or Culture as we are a very multicultural society and all those identities are represented in some way.

Études Sociales 9F (Block 3 & 5)
Students continued to work on their Immigration Magazine Project. It is great to see so many student come to class with folders of immigration stories from their past! I cannot wait to read these stories and get to know my students families a bit better!

Today we watched an episode of CBC's Our Canada. This episode had to do directly with Immigration. We then started looking at our Immigration project. A magazine. This is Due on March 1st 2018.

Social Studies 7G (Block 4)
Today we wrote our first quiz for chapter 6. Marks will be released hopefully by the end of the long weekend.

FLC ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we finished up our Valentine's Day vocabulary activity, Watched the Olympics in French, Played some French games and learnt about the Culture project.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8)
Today was a study period for our quiz Period 1 on Tuesday! Study hard this weekend!

Today we worked on our first homework on the chapter. This was done on google forms but we had a few technical difficulties, in the end it worked out and students were able to get it done. Tomorrow we will be starting our immigration project.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4)
During our first block together students were asked to write a short story explaining the chain of event from the rebellion in the 13 colonies to the division of Upper and Lower Canada. Second period students were able to use this time to study for the quiz tomorrow. They were given five questions to make use as a study guide. Here are those 5 questions:

- What happened during the Rebellion in the 13 colonies?
- Who where the loyalists and why did they want to move?
- Where did the loyalists move too?
- What did they divide Québec into?

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we un-molded our soap! They looked and smelt awesome! We then started work on our business plans. These will be due by the end o our next class together. Remember to bring some lined paper to our next class for our notebooks. You can also start saving pictures to your google drive for the cover page! Have a great weekend and enjoy your soap!

Today we started our 5 on 5 basketball tournament. This will be our last basketball tournament and then we will be on to our next unit!

Études Sociales 7D (Block 3 & 4) 
Today we continued discussing where the Loyalists went when they came North from the US. We discussed how the area called Québec was now divided into 2 halves. Upper Canada (Ontario) and Lower Canada (Québec) . This separation helped point us in the direction of creating a bilingual country! As a quick formative assessment students were asked to write a short story explaining the chain of event from the rebellion in the 13 colonies to the division of Upper and Lower Canada. We will have a study block on Friday and a Short Quiz on Tuesday Next week on the first 5 pages of our workbook.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 5) 
Today students learnt about the provincial immigration programs. These programs allow provinces to select a percentage of immigrants based on their economic and employment needs.

Today in FLC we Spent 40 minutes working on our Duolingo! We then decided on our partners for our Speaking Project. Then since Valentines Day is tomorrow we learnt some holiday vocabulary, we will be continuing this activity for a few minutes on Friday!

Today we started chapter 6. We spent the first period watching a few videos that explain the entirety of Chapter 6. We then started looking in more depth the first part of Chapter 6.... the Rebellion in the 13 colonies also known as the American Revolution!

Today we continued discussing how our Individual Rights and Freedoms, and the Collective Rights influence our immigrants.  We talked about the Singh decision and how that changed how refugees can apply for refugee status in Canada. We discussed how immigration effects the Collective Rights of our First Nations Population.  We finished off our 2 classes, discussing the difficulties and possibilities that Immigration provides for the Francophone communities in Alberta.

Today was SOAP day! We made some melt and pour soap. Students will get to un-mold and package this soap next Thursday! We also started to work on our business plan for our New mini business.

Today we continued our 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Tomorrow we have a double and will be playing castle pool in the north gym and then continuing the 3 on 3 tournament in the south gym.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5) 
Today we started talking about immigration (chapter 5). We discussed the 4 different types of immigrants, the differences between a law and a policy. We looked at the objectives of the Law on immigration and protection of Refugees, and discussed them in our own words to make sure we understood them. We took the point system test to see if we would be able to immigrate to Canada with our current level of education.  We also started to look at some reasons why some immigrant applicants might be refused entry.

French Language & Culture 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today was our introduction class. We discussed the schedule for the course as well as the types of projects they can expect to complete.  Students got set up on our google classroom, as well as our Duolingo Classroom. Students are advised to bring a pair of headphones every Day 3 to class in order to work on the Duolingo website for 40 minutes. If they do not have headphones it is not a big deal.

- Today we worked on our first Monde en Marche of 2018. These are due on Monday February 12th 2018. This coming Monday we will be starting our notes on Immigration.

Today students were given their first 2 Weekly News articles of 2018. They will be given another period to work on these on Tuesday February 6th and then they will be due on February 12th 2018.

Welcome to the first class of DIY 8. Today we looked at the syllabus and make a web of ideas of everyday items we could make ourselves. On Tuesday we will be starting our first DIY project.... Melt and Pour SOAP! Please make sure to bring a duo-tang!!

Today we started a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. We will be continuing this for the next few classes. Tomorrow is day 5 we will be in the fitness room!

Etudes Sociales 7D ( Block 3 & 4)
Today we got to play the games we have been working so hard on. Each group got to play a maximum of 3 games. They then proceeded to evaluate these games. I will also be evaluating them and hopefully marks will be up sometime next week.

Etudes Sociales 9F (Block 5)
Today we started talking about immigration. We mentioned how not every immigrant who comes to Canada becomes a citizen, but if they were they would have to take a citizenship test. We decided to see if we would be able to become citizens if we had not be born into it. We attempted to answer as many questions from the 144 question test that we could. It was great to see each and every student super involved in the test! Tomorrow we will be doing a Monde en Marche and Monday we will officially start chapter 5.

Social Studies 7B (Block 6 & 7)
Today we got to play the games we have been working so hard on. Each group got to play a maximum of 4 games. They then proceeded to evaluate these games. I will also be evaluating them and hopefully marks will be up sometime next week.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
Today was a great day! We started off our doubles with 10 minutes of shooting practices. Then we played a passing game called card sharks where students had to run around to find more playing cards that would tell them what pass to practice and how many to do. It was great to see the girls running hard the entire game!  Our second block we moved over to the North gym, we played a game called Line Basketball that combined passing, and shooting as well as some team work! The girls did awesome! We ended our classes with another 10 minutes of shooting practice and some time to cool down after a lot of running.  Great Job today girls!!

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today was the second last class to work on their DIY Products. Students were advised to take their stuff home and work at home this weekend! 1 Week till Craft Sale!!

Today we practices our Dribbling , by playing a few tag like games. We Played Sharks and Minnows and Dribbling Freeze Tag. The girls looked like they were having a lot of fun. We will do some passing and some more dribbling tomorrow.

During our first block students finished filling in the notes in groups. During our second block we watched a video about exploring different perspectives on aboriginal history. This video talked about the the numbered treaties and the difference of perspectives and understanding of these treaties.

Today in our first period we discussed and reviewed activity 4. We talked about how efficient some of the laws put in place over the years were in keeping the collective rights of the Anglophones and the Francophones in a minority setting.

In the second block we started looking into the Collective Rights of the Métis. Students read aloud in groups and completed some fill in the blanks. We will continue this tomorrow morning and then review and discuss it during out second block together tomorrow.

- Today we finished the first part of out notes on Chapter 5. Students were then given some time to start brainstorming their Board Games!

Today we stared working on the Last of the five practices of Leadership: Encourage the Heart. We also started a Film Study where students are asked to find examples of each of the Five Practices that we have studied this year.

- Today we started Chapter 5. This chapter will be divided into note periods and time to work on their final chapter project. During our first block I explained the assignment and told the students what their groups were.  In our second block we took our first set of notes. Tomorrow's first class will be spent starting their games and the second we will be taking notes again.

Études Sociales 9F (Block 3 & 5)
- Today we finished off an activity looking at the different perspectives of the First Nations and the Government of Canada in regards to the Numbered Treaties. We the started looking and how and why our country has 2 official languages.

January 10th 2018 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3)
Today in block one students continued making their cheat sheets. This period they were able to compare with their classmates to make sure they had everything they needed. Our second block together students worked on and most completed the open book quiz, using their textbook and cheat sheet. If they did not complete this it is to be finished for homework for tomorrow.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2)
Today students wrote Open Book quiz for chapter 4. Students who did not complete this were asked to complete it for homework for tomorrow.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5) 
Today we continued working on shooting. We started the first block with bank shots and then worked our way to lay ups during the second block.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Students kept working on their Products. The Craft Sale is coming up quick! It was great to see so many groups creating things today. Still waiting to see if the other groups will step it up.

- Today we started off our Basketball unit with some shooting. We reviewed the proper form and students got the chance to attempt 5 foul shots and see how many they got in. I wrote these down as we will do this again at the end of the unit to see they improved on their shot.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5) 
- Today we discussed the difference in perspectives that the First Nations and the Canadian government had in regards to the Numbered Treaties. We will be continuing this discussion on Thursday.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4) 
- Today student wrote the Open Book/ Take home quiz. If students did not finish it is is to be completed for Thursday.

Leadership 7 ( Block 6 & 7) 
- Today we discussed the Fourth practice of Exemplary Leadership. Enabling others to Act. Students analysed Quotes and explained how they relate to the fourth practice in groups using chart paper.
Students who have not completed their Challenge the process assignment are asked to complete it for our next class which is Friday January 12th.

Études Sociales 7D  ( Block 8) 
- Today we reviewed chapter 4 and created a cheat sheet that they will be allowed to use during the open textbook quiz tomorrow.  Students will have another class to work on this tomorrow before starting the quiz in our second block together tomorrow.

January 8th 2018 Day 5 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a restful break! Here is what we did on the first day back!

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8)
- As we are a bit a head this year, our first block together of the new year, was re organizing our classroom life! Student who needed to reorganize their binders were given the time so that they could start 2018 off right. Those that didn't need the opportunity helped take down the Holiday Decorations and make sure our classroom was ready for the New Year.
- Our Second Block together we started Unit 9.1.7. This Unit is all about Collective Rights. Student have a good base about our Individual Rights as Canadians, this unit is the follow up.

PE 8EF ( Block 2) 
- Our First Class back was in the Fitness Room. We will be starting Basketball tomorrow!

Social Studies 7G ( Block 3 & 4) 
- Today we reviewed what we had learnt in Chapter 4 before the break. Students were
asked to create a study sheet on one blank piece of paper. Students were encourage to use multiple colors and a mix of drawing and written notes. They will be allowed to use this on the last assignment for Chapter 4 coming up tomorrow!  This gave students who missed a chance to catch up! We will be having one more assignment to hand in then we will be on to Chapter 5 on Thursday!

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7) 
- Today students worked on their projects for the craft sale. Some students worked very very well while others need to step it up. Certain groups will be removed from the craft sale if their work does not improve.
